What do we gain from Traditional Chinese Medicine?

ALPHA BALANCE THERAPY offers Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Shiatsu to achieve physical and psychological balance following injury or ill health.
We aid performance and stimulate recovery following exercise or competition for
both riders and horses.

Those running an equine business will discover that Alpha Balance Therapy can not only improve the performance of both competition horses and their riders but also boost the financial viability and success of their enterprise itself.

You can safely rely on ABT staff who are fully qualified and who have many years experience in Equine Shiatsu, TCM and natural horsemanship.  We are skilled equine facilitators and well versed in equine psychology and low level laser therapy.

Equine Shiatsu

SHIATSU is a tried and tested form of Japanese physio-therapy which can treat  wide variety of issues. Much of the work covers soft tissue injuries and movement dysfunction such as tight muscles and stiff joints.

It is certainly safe and suitable for most horses not only to deal with specific physical conditions but also to manage stress, mental and emotional health problems.

Equine Shiatsu is purely a manual therapy which uses finger and thumb pressure on acupuncture points along the meridians in order to free restrictions in the body in order to allow and maintain good health.  These are the same points as used in Veterinary Acupuncture.  This pressure, together with assisted stretching, joint mobilisation and massage, allows the body to release pain and tension; gently correcting both posture and attitude.

A particular strength of Shiatsu is that it looks to find and treat the underlying causes of dysfunction and not just the symptoms.  Oriental theory, together with a highly-trained sensitivity of touch, makes Equine Shiatsu an effective aid
to good horse health.

This beautiful mare had suffered four days of antibiotic injections
for a severe lung infection.
It caused this 17 hh horse to become needle phobic and aggressive.

Thankfully, an amazingly foreward-thinking vet suggested
homeotherapy and shiatsu acupressure.
So we were able to help her recover and return to her winning performance

Laser Therapy

LASER therapy optimises healing to give shorter lay-off recovery times from a range of conditionsand injuries.  Quick, painless and non-invasive,low level laser therapy can deliver remarkable results in pain relief, wound healing and soft tissue repair.

Both acute and chronic conditions can be treated effectively with rapid healing of good tissue quality with limited scarring.  Low level laser treatment optimises natural healing by modulating relevant cell activity with light of controlled wavelengths and energy density. There is a wealth of research on the physiological effects of low level laser therapy.

The anti-inflammatory effects of laser are most beneficial when drugs are contra-indicated.  The value of choosing laser first is becoming apparent to more practitioners who believe that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs tend to treat the symptoms rather than the problem, whereas with laser, inflammation is reduced in the process of healing.

From muscle spasms and bowed tendons to mud fever and capped hock, there is a laser protocol to help.

ALOE VERA ~ The
best for animals too...

WITH VET BILLS increasing, it makes sense for farmers, pet owners and those with horses to treat animals in their care with effective first aid.
Aloe Vera's proven healing properties can be a huge benefit.  Taken orally, it

inhibits the body's ability to produce histamine as a remedy for allergic dermatitis thus preventing animals itching and scratching.  Aloe Vera spray or gel, applied to wounds, not only minimises scar formation but also, when new fur or hair appears, the re-growth will be the original colour rather than white, as is often the case.  Clearly a major advantage for show animals.
